Se trata de una de las rutas conjuntas que estas entidades deportivas de Ubrique y Algeciras suelen organizar cada año para dar a conocer las bellezas naturales de sus respectivas comarcas gaditanas. En esta ocasión se trataba de una ruta circular alrededor del cerro de Albarracín con principio y fin en la zona de Tavizna y que discurrió por los términos municipales de Benaocaz, El Bosque y Grazalema. 
El día comenzó con un desayuno de campaña ofrecido por el club anfitrión, tras lo cual la comitiva senderista se puso en marcha para encarar la cuenca del arroyo de Los Charcones. Después de atravesar el río Tavizna, que venía algo crecido por las últimas lluvias, y dejar a un lado el imponente castillo de Aznalmara, que preside este entorno, se inicia el ascenso al cerro rodeados de una vegetación en la que predominan los árboles de madroños que nos iban a acompañar durante buena parte de la ruta.
Una vez que hemos alcanzado cierta altura, nos sorprende las hermosas vistas de la Sierra del Pinar, con el Torreón como máxima cota de la provincia de Cádiz, la Sierra del Endrinal y más abajo la aldea de Benamahoma, en el término de Grazalema. Pasamos también por el cortijo abandonado de Las Zahurdas. Hasta que llegamos a la loma que se utiliza como lugar de despegue de los aficionado a ala delta y donde permanecemos un rato viendo las maniobras.
Un poco más adelante iniciamos el descenso con muchas precauciones por la fuerte pendiente que tenemos que salvar hasta encontramos de nuevo con el carril que nos llevará al lugar de partida tras unos 18 kilómetros.
