Kilinochchi: Air Force fighter jets carried out three air raids targeting LTTE resistance points in the Kilinochchi battlefront yesterday afternoon, Air Force spokesperson Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said. He said that all three air strikes were conducted at 12.45 p.m. The locations were, 2.5 Km north of Vannerikulam, 2 Km north of Akkarayankulam, and 5 Km north of Akkarayankulam, he added. Rafik Jalaldeen VAVUNIYA : Air Force fighter jets carried out air sorties yesterday afternoon targeting LTTE camps in Kanakarayankulam, Vavuniya causing heavy damage to the Tiger outfit. Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said Air Force fighters carried out precise air raids targeting the LTTE camps located two kilometres South of Kanakarayankulam. “The target was located east of the A-9 trunk road in Vavuniya and the air raid was launched around 1.00 p.m.,” he added. September 9th, 2008 - 9:20 am ICT by IANS - Colombo, Sep 9 (IANS) Light-wing aircraft of the Tamil Tigers carried out a pre-dawn raid Tuesday on a Sri Lankan Air Force base in the country’s north, but the air force retaliated and destroyed one of the planes for the first time, officials said.The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) tried to bomb the air force in Vavuniya, 254 km north of Colombo, but for once the Sri Lankan military appeared to be ready. “The LTTE has attempted an air raid in Vavuniya.
