Ceylon Records Recording Artist, DeLon, Responds to M.I.A.'s Denial of Terrorist Affiliation- PRweb-2008/08/22

DeLon's video that utilized a remix of M.I.A.'s song, "Paper Planes", has stirred mass amounts of controversy throughout the blogosphere and media, including front page of the BBC Entertainment Website. Projecting comparisons of M.I.A.'s "terrorist chic" image with the Sri Lankan terrorist group, the LTTE, DeLon has drawn comments and letters ranging from praise and admiration to hatred and death threats. DeLon responds to his fans and critics with another remix music video that exhibits a rare message of peace and unity from a hip-hop rapper.

Los Angeles, California (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) August 22, 2008 -- Ceylon Records recording artist, DeLon, responds to accusations of being a "self-promoter" by Interscope recording artist, M.I.A. As reported by online magazine Pitchfork on August 7, 2008, M.I.A. responds to DeLon's controversial remix video of her song, "Paper Planes", by denying her support of terrorism and claiming that her music is the voice of a civilian refugee. She continues to describe DeLon's video as an act of "self-promotion". Since then, DeLon has released a blog on his website explaining his motivation behind the notorious Diss Video and on August 20, 2008 he released his follow-up video and response to his fans and critics.

Remixing Michael Jackson's, "Man in the Mirror", DeLon provides another educational video through the hip-hop medium as he raps about his message and mission of peace and unity throughout his country of Sri Lanka and around the globe. A rare stance by a hip-hop rapper, DeLon's motivation was not to target M.I.A., but to target the atrocities happening in his country and around the world. DeLon says, "My mission was not to expose or target M.I.A., I am targeting the symbols that she uses in her music and videos." DeLon asks the question, "If my father was part of the Klu Klux Klan, and I wanted nothing to do with it, would I put guys dressed up in white sheets in my videos?" DeLon is targeting terrorists. He is asking governments and civilians around the globe to open their eyes to the injustices that are happening all around us. DeLon continues, "We are in a period of war. We are in a period of change. We as human beings are facing our own self-demise through our ignorance and unwillingness to find peace and global unity."

Ceylon Records and DeLon are compiling a peace CD with the biggest names in Sri Lankan music and having all proceeds go to a charity fund that supports child soldier refugees from the LTTE terrorist group in Sri Lanka. Says DeLon, "The Diss Video was to bring attention to M.I.A.'s symbolisms. Whether she voluntarily knows it or not, her symbols represent those that support the LTTE and terrorism in Sri Lanka. There is a much bigger conflict in Sri Lanka and across the globe than just me and M.I.A." Major artists in Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan expatriate artists will join hands on this compilation CD. DeLon asks M.I.A. to solidify her stance against terrorism, the LTTE, and child soldiers, and be a part of the solution by being a part of the peace CD. "I would like to put all differences aside and invite M.I.A. to represent something positive and help her country of Sri Lanka to provide for those children that are involuntarily affected by this war", says DeLon. The ball is now in M.I.A.'s court and we are all anxiously awaiting her response.

To Kilinochchi or Mankulam?- The Nation- 2008/09/07

This week saw one of the most ferocious battles since the security forces started their campaign to regain the Wanni around mid last year. The LTTE’s much anticipated counter strike was launched along their newly built trench line from the western coastal town Nachchikudah to the deep interior region Akkarayankulam, a fair distance of 18-20 km in length. This trench line, which is mainly an earth bund of around 7-15 feet at certain places, was built in recent times with heavy machinery cutting across shrub jungles. In a series of waves, the LTTE attacked personnel of the Army’s 58 and 57 Divisions last Wednesday in a battle that lasted 36 hours. The LTTE claimed to have killed up to 100 military personnel, while the military initially claimed that only nine soldiers were killed. However, with the LTTE claiming that they had recovered the bodies of 29 soldiers and posted pictures of the dead on pro-LTTE websites, the Army said that ...
